A brief post on Family, which was the prompt from a few days ago.
My GF's parents are here for a visit. I generally refer to them to others (not to them! the relationship with them is still too new) as "the unlaws".
They're not in-laws - my relationship with my GF is not recognised by law, nor is any ceremony we might have between ourselves.
I have friends who use the term "out-laws", and I respect that, although I don't feel it appropriate for my circumstances. It just doesn't fit.
So, I have un-laws. And I look forward to the day when it will be possible to call them "in" instead of "un".
